The NCC Cadets of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt.PG College for Women Gandhinagar Jammu in Collabration with Traffic Police Jammu & Dainik Jagran participated to spread Awareness about Road Safety Rules Among genral public in Gandhinagar on 5th Dec.2022. The Cadets talked about significance of Traffic Signals and Zebra Crossing, Importance of wearing Helmet and Seat belt. Mr.Bikram Kumar,DSP Traffic appreciated the efforts of cadets and ANO Lt. Suman Bala for stepping forward for this social Cause

RDC-2023 Selection( Unit Level) organized at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt.PG College for Women Gandhinagar 2 J&K Girls Bn Jammu initiated unit level selection process for RDC-2023 at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt.PG College for Women Gandhinagar Jammu from today on 16 Nov. 2022 whereinthe cadets of JW and SW Institutions - APS Jammu Cantt. , APS Ratnuchak , APS Damana, APS Udhampur , APS Miransahib, Shaurya International, GCW Parade, GGM Sc. College, PSPS GCW Gandhinagar, GCW Udhampur, GDC Paloura, GDC Kathua participated with full enthusiasm. Special Drill Instructors were invited for Selection process including a team from unit Hav. Tek Raj, Hav. Zakir , Sub. Jeevan as well. The Selection Committee in cluding Major Preeti , Officiating CO ; Capt. Anjana ; Lt. Suman Bala, Asha Devi, GCI and Sub.Major Baljinder Singh will select the cadets for the Flag area, Cultural, MC .

Komal Diman of PSPS Govt PG College for Woman Gandhi Nagar, Jammu Won Gold medal in All India Inter University Pencak Silat Championship was hosted by University of Jammu. Komal called on Principal prof. Minu Mahajan who congratulate the young athlete for her achievement. Komal represented country three times and again selected as member of National team to Malaysia.

One day virtual Webinar was organised by the department of food science and technology in collaboration with IQAC Govt P.G College for women, Gandhinagar Jammu. Dr. Vikas Nanda, professor, Food Processing Engineering, SLIET, Longowal, Punjab was the resource person of the event entitled ‘‘Characterization and processing of Honey’’. A warm welcome was given to Dr. Vikas Nanda by Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology, Dr. Anuradha Gandotra. He gives an informative presentation on Characterization, parameters, techniques, adulteration, standards and processing of honey. At the end of the event Dr. Shalini Sharma, Associate Professor of Food Science and Technology presented vote of thanks to the resource person. Around 45 students along with faculty members attended the webinar. This event was organised by Dr. Anuradha Gandotra, Dr. Shalini Sharma, Dr. Monika Hans and Dr. Nargis Yousf.

Celebration of Republic Day in College

Department of Zoology
The students of GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Department of Zoology participated in Poster making and Garland making competition at the Botanical Garden, University of Jammu on 15th March, 2019 organized by State Forest Research Institute, J&K for the event of Forest Flower Festival on the theme “Floral Biodiversity conservation and Innovation”. 20 students participated in poster making and 18 students participated in garland making. The event was coordinated by Prof. Satinder Kaur, Head, Department of Zoology, Prof. Ashma Gupta, Prof. Neha Antal and Prof. Priya Manhas. The first prize was bagged by Samiksha (4th Sem), second by Sargun Kaur (6th Sem) and third by Meenakshi Thakur (6th Sem) respectively. All the participants got the certificate for participation.

Department of Psychology organized a one day workshop on "Dealing with Spiritual Conflicts " on 27th March 2019. Nupur Sandhu , a serenity surrender therapist, and Dr. Manisha Kohli were the resource persons on the occasion. 65 students and faculty members participated. The workshop helped the participants In Releasing the unwanted negative thoughts of the past and in resolving one's own Spiritual Conflicts. The students thanked the resource persons for demonstrating the sincere Spiritual practices which generate, sustain and enhance purity of character and universal harmony. Dr. Rama Badyal, professor Eisha Gohil, Dr. Nazia Rasool and Dr. Shiv Mangal Singh were present on the occasion.

Participation of youth in Elections
As per the directions of District Election Officer, Electoral Literacy Club Jammu district in collaboration with Electoral Literacy Club Government PG college for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu and Department of Political Science, have organised "Unveiling Elections" a public outreach initiative at the auditorium of the college on 18. 03. 2019..

Students of GOVT PG COLLEGE FOR WOMEN,Gandhinagar Jammu participated in 150 years of celebrating The Mahatma. Theme of event was “ Swasth Bharat Yatra” led by FSSAI under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India. PG Department of Food Science and Technology participated in the event under sub-theme “ The Eat Right Day” on Nov 28th, 2018. Students of the departments participated in displaying stalls regarding

  1. Information on Techniques of Hand Washing Hygiene and Cleanliness.
  2. Information on Adulteration of food Articles
  3. Eat Right J&k : Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy
  4. Information on Food Safety for street food Vendors.

A One Day Seminar on the topic ‘Promotion of research among students’, was organized in Government P. G. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with J&K State Science, Technology & Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology. Prof. Kaushal Smotra, Principal, Government P. G. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. Declaring the seminar open, she emphasized on the need of carrying out research by the students, as it is the need of the hour. She emphasized that research is important as it helps to have a detailed analysis of everything and in turn helps in the betterment of society. The seminar was held in two technical sessions. Prof. Jigar Mohammed, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu and Prof. Arushi Malhotra, Assistant Professor, School of Design and Architecture, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai were the resource persons. Prof. Jigar Mohammed motivated the students to take active part in research by quoting incidents from his vast experience of 35 years as a researcher in Medieval Indian History. Prof. Arushi Malhotra effectively discussed the research process, its types, methodology and the 8 step model for carrying out research. Dr.Meeru Abrol, HOD Mathematics and Dr.Nidhi Suri were the organizing secretaries of the programme. About twenty students also presented PPT’s/ Oral presentations on the topic ‘Science & Technology’. Prof. Sudhanshu Sharma, Prof. Sunil Uppal and Prof. Surinder Sharma were the jury members in the student presentation. Prizes were distributed to the student winners in the valedictory function. The seminar was attended by members of organizing committee, senior faculty members and a large number of students of the college.

Red Ribbon Club , GCW Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with JK State AIDS Control Society, organized an intra college poster making competition on the World's AIDS theme - Know Your Status , to mark the occasion of World AIDS day . This competition was held to inaugurate a week long activities from 24-11-2018 upto 1st December . 41 students participated in today's activity Muskaan Trehan ( Semester -3) , Attika Choudhary ( Semester -1 ) and Nishtha Jain ( Semester - 5 ) were adjudged 1st ,2nd and 3rd respectively and the judges present for the event were Dr . Ashu Vashisht , Professor Ashwini Khajuria from GCW Gandhi Nagar and Professor Siloney Chirag from GCW Prade . Dr.Manisha Kohli convener Red Ribbon Club , Professor Eisha Gohil , Dr . Syed Shehna , Dr. Shiv Mangal Singh members of Red Ribbon Club supervised the event .

Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Govt. P.G College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu organized Parent Teacher Interaction meet at College Auditorium on 22nd November 2018. The programme began by invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Prof. Minu Mahajan, Dean Students Welfare, Commerce welcomed the Parents, Students and the teachers. She urged upon the parents to be a part of GCW family by associating with it and contribute for the holistic growth of the Institution. Dr. Surinder Kumar, Coordinator, IQAC read the report about the milestone achieved by the College and also acquainted them with the rules and regulations of the college. Dr Kaushal Smotra, Principal of the college while addressing the parents stressed upon to follow sagacious approach for the betterment of the institution and for its multifaceted growth. A feedback form was circulated and a healthy interaction between parents and teachers also held in which parents discussed the issues of their children to their respective teachers. Prof. Nirlape Kour, Staff Secretary presented vote of thanks.

Department of Botany Govt PG College for women Gandhi Nagar Jammu has organised a training cum awareness programme on Foldscope_microscopy in collaboration with the Sher e kashmir university of agriculture. This programme was sponsored by DBT ,Govt of India to disseminate knowledge on the use of Foldscope in the field of science and agriculture. The resource person was Dr Renu Gupta,principal investigator of the project of DBT_Foldscope .Foldscope is an origami microscope, very handy,cost-effective, efficient,can be connected with your mobile phone.A very useful device that has potential to change the way we view life and micro organisms aroud us.This can easily be used by teachers and scientists. The programme was coordinated by Dr Suman Sharma ,HOD department of Botany and is attended by a students and staff of the college. At the end Prof Mala Bhasin presented vote of thanks.

INTER COLLEGIATE CHESS TOURNAMENT (MEN/WOMEN) INITIATED AT GOVT. M.A.M COLLEGE JAMMU
Chess Inter Collegiate Men and Women tournament of Cluster University of Jammu begins today on 14.11.2018 at Govt. M.A.M College Jammu. Prof. Romesh Chander, Principal, M.A.M College, Jammu was the Chief Guest and Prof. Bhupinder Singh, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Cluster University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour.

1st Match Govt. GGM Science College beat Govt. College of Education beat by 3-1
2nd Match Govt. M.A.M College beats SPMR College of Commerce by 3-1
In Women Section
1st Match SPMR College of Commerce beat Govt. College of Education by 4-0
2nd Match GGM Science College beat Govt. SPMR College of Commerce by 2.5-1.5

Tomorrow final match will be played between Govt. M.A.M College and GGM Science College in Men Section and in Women Section GGM Science College will play with Govt. P.G College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu. The matches were officiated by Sh. S.P Sharma and Sh. Sushil Saini . Matches were observed by Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Sports Coordinator, Cluster University of Jammu. During the tournament dignateries present were Prof. Subash Sharma, Mr. Sumnesh Sharma, Phy.
